Project mission

In a world facing major environmental problems and threats, Europe has set the challenge in the European Green Deal to become the world’s first climate-neutral continent by 2050. New “smart” enzymes implemented by screening and design can help improve real-life consumer products to become greener, more innovative and more functional products that have the least impact on the environment and higher acceptance by consumers. By tackling current technological limitations, the FuturEnzyme project will develop and apply smart technologies to establish a high-tech platform for recovering, designing, optimising and formulating enzymes that satisfy the key performance indicators of the detergent, textile, and cosmetic manufacturing sectors and have a reduced environmental impact. FuturEnzyme project will focus on detergent, cosmetic and textile sectors considered as the most energy, water and chemicals demanding sectors.
